AFTER CDW – WHAT HAPPENS

CDW 2023 -DONE & DUSTED – HIGH LEVEL SUMMARY

1. No serious safety issues – the closest was a flipped kayak/kayaker from The Dock beach.
2. A fair number of marathon successes after the 9-day week – as of 27 August 2023 > we have 17 names to add/change color for the 2024 towel.
3. The water was cold and “texture” lively for much of the 9-day week – which reduced the Champion of Champions distances and stopped the 6-hour swim on the Sunday.  A few did 6-hour swims earlier.  A few lapped little, ATE well and most importantly stayed safe.
4. On the finance side – HAPPY to report we grossly overspent:  Triple Crown dinner record number of diners and gift sets for newly inducted Triple Crowners; more and better food – all the time, free towels to those added/changed color since 2023 and baseball caps for major volunteers/event patrons.
