CDW 2025 -DONE & DUSTED – HIGH LEVEL SUMMARY

  1. All safe – One mild hypothermia incident (4th sessions) – local swimmer cold at corner 2 on second lap – need assistance. He drove home 1 hour later – ok.
  2. No one reported or asked for one of the Covid test kits we had available.
  3. Most/best food, gear & entertainment  EVER AT CDW – budget completely blown (been trying to accomplish this for the past few years > so success!)
  4. Volunteerism > OFF THE CHARTS > THANKS
  5. Most ever Triple Crown dinner awards – budget completely blown (delighted! – this will probably not happen again – but will be happy to see it). 128 at the dinner and 8 “crowned” to make 28 total Triple Crowners in attendance.
  6. Three open sea swims with best boat/kayak cover ever. 
  7. Weather – not bad           
  8. Water temperature: Good news – didn’t stop many 6-hour qualifiers only one soft rain & Less good news – perhaps water a couple of degrees colder than ideal to start 
  9. WE HAD TOO MANY SWIMMERS AT CDW 2025 – IT STRESSED THE PARKING AND SPACE FOR GATHERING/FEEDING. FEWER WILL BE BOOKED FOR 2026 – SO SORRY IN ADVANCE TO SOME CDW VETERANS – YOU JUST WIIL NOT GET A LOWISH PRICES INVITATION. WE WANT A GOOD PERCENTAGE OF FIRST TIME SWIMMERS – ESPECIALLY TRIPLE CROWNERS AND THOSE WITH THEIR FIRST ENGLISH CHANNEL BOOKED LATER IN THE SUMMER.

So – on to 2026  Read ALL the material on the website and complete the google link if interested – changes shown in blue highlight. The first invitations will go out in late July 2025. Prices will steadily rise to help limit the interest after the early entries are confirmed. The fees for the final applications (usually in May will be 3 to 5 times higher).
