So the 1st of May has arrived, the first day of our summer (not that we’d necessarily know it by looking out the window!). For those of you who haven’t started their open water season yet, what are you waiting for?! We have a group of swimmers at Sandycove both days most weekends now, so you’re more than welcome to join us. The water temperatures haven’t risen much in the last few weeks, but it’s still pretty reasonable for this time of year at about 10 degrees C.

It’s also that time of year to start planning your open water season. The calendar of swims for the summer is now up here. It’s going to be a busy year for swims, so have a look through it and see what you’d like to do. Big thanks are due to Finbarr Hedderman for his time in putting this together-it’s getting to be a bigger job every year as the number of swims increases. And, of course, thank you to our swim organisers, without whom we wouldn’t have a swim calendar at all!
