Update: A write-up on Jen’s swim can be found here on The Daily News of Open Water Swimming.
A big congratulations to Jen Hurley, who swam around Halls Head Island, Mandurah, Western Australia, yesterday. The following is a description of the swim location in Jen’s own words (a couple of days before the swim):
“Anyway, weather permitting I will swim around Halls Head Island in Western Australia later this week. It’s about 30kms, half Estuary, half ocean. I will start at a place called Doddies Beach (don’t worry Ned-the stingers have moved on, too cold for them now at 20 degrees….) and I will swim up into the mouth of the Estuary, then down South until a place called the Dawesville cut, through the cut (hopefully at the right time) and back up the ocean to the start point.”
And her report afterwards:
“9:06:31. Bloody amazing, beautiful swim. Swam with dolphins, including a little baby one, stingrays ( huge ) loads of different fish, crabs and heaps more. Very interesting with the tides. Mangled….”
In doing the swim, Jen is fundraising for Muscular Dystrophy WA. Her fundraising page is here if you would like to sponsor her.
Well done from all of us back here in rainy Ireland Jen 🙂
