At 8:30am this morning, Foireann Snamh Garibaldi began their relay English Channel swim. The team is made up of three Americans and three of our own swimmers: Catherine Sheridan from Cork, Fionnuala Walsh from Clare and Kevin Williams from Kerry. They had been waiting in Dover since last Saturday and the Irish gang travelled home on Wednesday when it looked like there was no hope of a swim. They then found out yesterday that it looked like they might get a swim window starting this morning so they had to fly back to London again last night and make the trip back to Dover. It’s been a frustrating week for them (as all of us who have had to wait in Dover can identify with!), so they were happy to be able to get in the water and begin their journey to France this morning.
Best of luck guys 🙂
